25-030 Seasonal Maintenance Worker, Full-Time
The Community Services Director is looking for a dependable individual to perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in many phases of seasonal maintenance and construction of recreation areas, buildings, and facilities. May work on programs, events and projects. This is a seasonal full-time position, 40 hours per week. Position is open until filled. $16.49 to $23.87 per hour.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
- General landscaping, lawn mowing, weed-whacking, and related tasks.
- Assist in the maintenance of municipal parks.
- Perform minor semi-skilled interior building maintenance such as painting and other unskilled trades work.
- Perform custodial work such as required and assigned.
- Plant and maintain lawns, trees, shrubs and flowers.
- Support turf-management efforts which may involve seeding, fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, watering of the City’s cemeteries, parks, open spaces and athletic fields.
- Assist in maintaining and adjusting specialized turf care equipment and tools, including electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, tractors, mowers, and irrigation systems.
- Collect and dispose of solid waste from buildings and grounds; pick up litter from premises.
- Familiar with and executes safe work procedures associated with assigned work.
- Assist in snow removal operations and mitigating the effects of natural and man-made disasters.
- Assist in opening and closing burial lots and overall cemetery maintenance and upkeep.
- Performs other related duties, as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS: Some knowledge of, and the ability to use simple hand tools; knowledge of construction, electrical procedures and techniques; ability to perform simple and routine manual labor; even adverse weather conditions; ability to perform a variety of manual tasks; ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to use office equipment, computers and communications equipment.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 16 years of age, with minimum High School diploma preferred; Valid motor vehicle operator’s license; some experience in maintenance of grounds and/or lawn mowing experience; OR any combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
