The Engineering Division of the Community Services Department is seeking a Intern which will report to the City Engineer and work directly with the Assistant City Engineer, Environmental Project Manager, and Deputy City Engineer on a variety of engineering projects.
This is a temporary, part-time, 8-12 hour per week per week, non-exempt position. $15.33 to $22.24 per hour. Position is open until filled.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position. The listed examples may not include all duties found in this class):
1. Assist in data collection, analysis, and reporting related to engineering projects.
2. Prepare sketches, exhibits, and presentation materials.
3. Conduct field observations.
4. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and geographic information systems (GIS) to create maps and sketches.
5. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates.
6. Participate in project meetings and communicate effectively with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
7. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations
8. Performs other related duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Currently enrolled in a Civil/Environmental Engineering, or another related engineering program, at an accredited college or university.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
EDUCATION/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or equivalent, required. Must hold a valid motor vehicle operator license.
